PlayNow Casino Review: Is It Legit? PlayNow vs Offshore Casinos
PlayNow casino is the BCLC online casino: the only online gambling site the Province of British Columbia authorises. This review covers what it offers, how deposits work and how to withdraw from PlayNow, its promotions and limit tools, and the questions people ask most, from 'is PlayNow legit' to PlayNow casino vs offshore casinos.
PlayNow Casino Review: the Short Version
PlayNow is the provincial site: legit, regulated in BC and tied into Game Break and GameSense. It pays out only by bank transfer, slower than Interac at the international sites, and its library is smaller.
If you want the one site the Province stands behind, PlayNow casino is it. It is run by BCLC under the Gaming Control Act, it is the only site that returns its net income to the Province, and its player-protection tools are linked to the same self-exclusion programme as BC's casinos. Registration requires you to be a BC resident aged 19 or older, and play only works while you are physically in British Columbia.
The trade-offs are practical. Withdrawals go only by electronic funds transfer and can take up to three business days to process, plus about a day to arrive. The casino lobby is described by PlayNow as "hundreds" of games, against thousands at the larger international sites. And because PlayNow is a monopoly, its promotions are modest by comparison. If a big welcome offer is the point, look at the international sites instead.
Is PlayNow Legit? Who Runs It and Who Regulates It
Yes. PlayNow is run by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, a Crown corporation, and regulated by the Independent Gambling Control Office.
People ask "is PlayNow legit" because its name looks like any other casino brand. It is not a private operator. PlayNow.com belongs to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, which the Gaming Control Act makes responsible for "the conduct and management of provincial gaming schemes", and the Act defines online gaming by reference to "the lottery corporation's online platform". The government's gambling page states that "PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in B.C."
That status brings oversight. The Independent Gambling Control Office regulates BCLC and its services, and has done so since 13 April 2026. BCLC reports to the Ministry of Finance, and its revenue goes to the Province: the 2026/27 service plan calls PlayNow "the only site that delivers net income back to the Province". So is PlayNow legit? Yes. It is the only online site the Province itself runs.
What the BCLC Online Casino Offers
Slots, table games, live dealer games, poker, bingo, instants and keno, plus lottery and sports betting under one account.
The BCLC online casino covers the usual categories: slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, video poker and jackpots, and a Live Casino section with "Live Blackjack, Live Roulette and Live Baccarat just like a real Casino". PlayNow Poker pools players from other provinces for larger prize pools, and the same account gives access to lottery, sports betting, bingo, keno and instant games.
PlayNow does not publish a game count; its casino page speaks of "hundreds more games". BCLC has said it is replacing the casino platform, and the Finance Minister told the legislature in May 2026 that the new platform would arrive in the autumn. We have not seen a dated launch announcement, so this review describes the site as it stood when we checked it.
Deposits and How to Withdraw From PlayNow
Deposit by card, Interac e-Transfer, PayPal or online bill payment from C$5. Withdrawals go only to your bank account by electronic funds transfer.
PlayNow accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac e-Transfer, PayPal and online bill payment for deposits, with a C$5 minimum. A debit card can be saved as a Quick Deposit card with no fees, and PlayNow describes Interac e-Transfer as "a simple fee-free option" available at more than 250 financial institutions.
Here is how to withdraw from PlayNow, step by step:
- Sign in and open the withdrawal page in your account.
- Enter the amount. PlayNow notes that withdrawals "should consist only of winnings".
- Confirm the bank account. "All funds must be withdrawn to your bank account via Electronic Funds Transfer."
- Wait: PlayNow says to "allow up to three business days for BCLC to process your withdrawal", after which the transfer "will typically require approximately one business day" to appear.
A pending withdrawal can be reversed until midnight Pacific time. The account balance is capped at C$250,000. Compared with the international sites, where Interac withdrawals are stated at one to three days in total, how to withdraw from PlayNow is simple but rarely fast.
PlayNow Bonus Offers and Their Terms
New players see a match deposit offer of up to $1,500 and a $150 live casino bonus, both tied to depositing and wagering. Promotions change; read the terms on PlayNow.
PlayNow's promotions page offered, when we checked, "a match deposit offer up to $1,500 when you deposit and wager" for new players, "a $150 Live Casino Bonus when you make your first deposit and wager", and a weekend jackpot promotion on featured games. Sports promotions, such as bonus bets for a first deposit on PlayNow Sports, run separately. Promotional tokens credited to an account "cannot be redeemed for cash".
We did not find a casino promo code or a no deposit bonus on PlayNow's own pages. Codes that circulate online usually belong to sports promotions or contests.
PlayNow Casino vs Offshore Casinos: the Differences That Matter
PlayNow wins on oversight, local self-exclusion and where the money goes. The 6 international casinos we list win on game choice, offer size and Interac withdrawals.
Comparing PlayNow casino vs offshore casinos comes down to a few points:
- Who stands behind it. PlayNow is authorised and regulated in British Columbia. The international casinos hold licences from Kahnawake, Tobique or Malta and are not approved by the Province.
- Protection. PlayNow is part of Game Break and GameSense. An international site has its own tools but cannot see the BC self-exclusion list.
- Payouts. PlayNow pays by bank transfer, up to three business days plus about one more. The listed casinos pay by Interac e-Transfer in one to three days, as they state.
- Games and offers. PlayNow has hundreds of games; the international sites list thousands. Most of their welcome offers are larger, and so is the wagering attached to them.
The full comparison shows each international casino with its licence, offer and payout time, and the homepage table puts PlayNow casino vs offshore casinos side by side, point by point.
